Shikshan Sanstha’s Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya, Wai, affiliated to Shivaji
University, Kolhapur, has a very long glorious tradition. Kisan Mahadeo alias Abasaheb
Veer, a veteran Freedom Fighter, took initiative to establish a college at Wai
in 1962 in order to impart quality education to the students residing in the
remote corners of Wai. Koregoan, Khandala, Mahabaleshwar and Jaoli Talukas.
Before Janata Shikshan Sanstha was duly registered, “Arts and Commerce College,
Wai” had been run by Pradnyapathshalamandal, Wai headed by Tarkateertha
Laxmanshastri Joshi, a renowned Sanskrit Scholar. When Janata Shikshan Sanstha
was duly registered on 12th July 1967, the college was transferred
from Pradnyapathshalamandal, Wai to Janata Shikshan Sanstha, Wai. After the
demise of Abasaheb Veer in 1979, the college was renamed as “Kisan Veer
